When you are deciding on which registry cleaner to use, you should look for one that is optimizer as well as a cleaner.  An optimizer will put your registry’s most used commands at the top of the list the operating system looks at when getting its next instruction.  During the course of one million instructions, which could be one very small operation, this can help save your microprocessor a lot of time and resources it would have used if the registry had not been optimized.

I have had people tell me after they had their registries cleaned and optimized with one highly rated registry cleaner in particular, their computer had never been so fast.  Not that it hadn’t been this fast in a while, but it had never been so fast!  This is quite an endorsement for registry optimizers!

Still, it is important to note the registry cannot truly be optimized unless it is cleaned first.  Cleaning a Windows registry involves scanning through the registry for errors, and then repairing any errors that were found.  Without this process taking place it would be impossible to for the registry to be optimized because the errors, or the stuff in the registry slowing the computer down would be what the software would see as the most used part of the registry.  What would happen in such a case is Windows would become more efficient at performing the operations that were slowing the computer down. 

The moral of this story is even if best registry cleaner had no optimizing software, it would still be better than a so-so registry cleaner that included an optimizer.

Actually, all the better registry cleaners do include optimizers these days and they are a great addition to the registry cleaner software.
