The reason regedit is not the preferred option for most of us computer users is the fact it is very dangerous to our computers health every time we use it unless, of course, we have a thorough understanding of what we are doing. Regedit simply provides us with a Windows interface where we can change the names of, and add files just as we would if we were operating in our documents menu.

The Trouble With Regedit

The problem is, with regedit we are not in our document menu and any mistake we make could cause the computer to run poorly; even more poorly than it was before we started out our mission to correct our registry problem. Even worse is the fact we could make our computer useless altogether and end up needing to until reinstall the Windows operating system completely.

In short , regedit was an option before registry cleaners were available. However, now that registry cleaners are available there is no sense to using regedit at all! For one thing regedit can take hours just to allow us to do what a registry cleaner can do in minutes. On top of that, there is no thinking when we use a registry cleaner. We simply let the registry cleaning program do all the work as we sit idly by and watch our computers performance return to 100%.

Control Panel Is Ghe Best Way To Tweak

Some people use regedit to tweak their computers performance. For instance, through regedit there is a way you can alphabetize all the entries in your favorites menu. However, you can do the same thing in your control panel. In fact, anything you can do in regedit you can do quickly and safely inside your control panel.

Still, Windows does supply us with the regedit program which is run from the run line in the start menu. However it is highly recommended you stay away from this program. It really is there for a techniucian to use in case of an emergency.

To modify or change the registry by hand, the “regedit” command is entered into the run box found in the start menu in
Windows XP.  The equivalent program in Windows Vista is the registry editor which is in the management console.  Either way, fooling around in these progams in order to atempt to repair a registry problem is unwise at best.  No good can become of it.

Even a high level IT will use a god registry cleaner to take care of any registry problems.  The only time he or she would edit the registry by hand would be to restrict or change some ability of a program or user he or she is responsible for overseeing.
